Kingdom Perspective

With so much concern among conservatives about the policies of President Obama, I think it important that we keep things in perspective.

As a "right-wing Christian fundamentalist", I am opposed to many of the things Mr. Obama stands for. (I would have voted for him if I had agreed with his policy proposals.) Abortion, a national health insurance program, etc., either violate my beliefs as a Christian, or my values as a conservative. HOWEVER, there is one thing we need to keep in perspective: though as Christians we live IN the world, we are not OF the world. We should be good citizens: we should vote, make our voice heard in Washington through our communication with our Congressmen and Senators as well as with the White House. We should pay our taxes. And, as citizens we should PRAY for those in authority (1Tim 2:1-2). But we should also remember that we don't have to live in the world's economy. God's economy--what I call "Kingdom Economy" promises that if we "Seek first His kingdom and His righteousness", the things we need will be provided. Paul told the Philippian church that, out of their willingness and obedience in giving that God would supply all their needs...and, of course, we need to be good stewards, which includes wise spending.

There are many "kingdom promises" that our ours, IF we will choose to live IN t kingdom rather than OF the world. We need to keep things in perspective. I heard somebody on national television remind the nation this week that President Obama was not born in a stable...

Just some early morning rambling thoughts. Later in the day I might read this and wish I had waited until I was more fully awake to post it.

God bless.

The following comes from my good friend, Scott Timmerman. It was worth passing on. God bless. Jim

I was just thinking of this email that I had received in the past. I had just finished watching Mr. Smith Goes to Washington. I think every candidate/representative should watch it and consider what was said. I’m ready for a grass roots movement of every person contacting their Congress member and letting them know how satisfied/dissatisfied they are with the system. We need to know how our elected officials vote and if we disagree make it known. Tell them that not only do we disagree, but we will not vote them back in again !!!!

Don’t know your officials in Congress or how to get the message of them ? Here is two sites that will give you that information;
http://www.senate.gov/general/contact_information/senators_cfm.cfm - Your senators
http://www.house.gov/house/MemberWWW.shtml - Your Representatives
http://www.visi.com/juan/congress/ - Contacting your Congress (even in Spanish)

I’m guilty of complaining but never voicing my opinion to the right people – my elected officials. I heard Gov. Mike Huckabee state that we need to let them know what we want and expect. Should the President be able to force this great country into poverty for the future generations without our say in the matters? Let’s do what we should as a Nation and stand up for our right to be represented and voice our opinion.

Enough of my soapbox, I know most of you know more about politics than I do. I just know when we are being taken advantage of. Let’s flood Washington with our opinions. A lot of good men and women have died for our rights and no one should be able to slowly rob us of those rights !! God Bless America and each of you.
