One Man's Jerusalem
One man’s Jerusalem…
Is another man’s “end of the earth” (Acts 1:8). Last year Pastor Samuel and Nelly Castillo sold or gave away everything they had and answered the call to be Christ’s witnesses. After serving in Peru for over 25 years, they moved from Peru to the United States and committed to serve as Hispanic Pastors of Destiny Church in Rogers, AR. They came with no promise of support from Destiny, but knew in their hearts that God had called them to serve at Destiny.
Times have been difficult for them. They are separated from their Peruvian families, and are raising their children, Sharom and Pablo, in a foreign culture. And promised financial support from Peru has failed to come through. Yet, they continue to serve Jesus Christ faithfully, even while not knowing how they will make rent and utility payments, buy groceries or put gasoline in their car.
Last week, as Destiny’s pastors and their wives were praying at the church, Pastor Jim shared from Habakkuk 2:2-3, “Then the LORD answered me, ‘Write the vision. Make it clear on tablets so that anyone can read it quickly. The vision will still happen at the appointed time. It hurries toward its goal. It won't be a lie. If it's delayed, wait for it. It will certainly happen. It won't be late’ (God’s Word).”
Pastor Jim shared that he believe God, through the scripture, was telling the pastors not to give up, but that the vision God had for “one church—two congregations” was going to come to pass. So Destiny Church is committed to hang on to the Word, that it will still happen at the appointed time…it will certainly happen.”
It is an exciting time as we watch how God will fulfill His word. And you can be part of that excitement. Historically the United States has sent billions of dollars to overseas mission fields, including the nation of Peru. But now the mission fields are coming to us! And, in order to reach those mission fields, we need people like Pastor Samuel and Nelly to help us reach them. You can help reap the harvest through your prayers and support of Pastor Samuel and Nelly. Their needs are not great—like many missionaries they live very frugally—but the needs to exist.
Would you please commit to pray for the Castillo family? And pray about helping support them. Your gifts of support are tax-deductible, and will help further the cause of the Gospel in the Castilllos’ “end of the earth” as they reach the Hispanic community in northwest Arkansas. Please send your gifts to Destiny Church, 1704 W. Industrial Dr., Rogers AR 72756. It’s good soil into which to sow!
